Metatopics sets no cookies and runs no tracking. This policy explains the single appearance preference stored on your own device and how to remove it.
In short
This platform sets no cookies. One preference is stored on your own device, and only if you change the appearance yourself. Nothing is stored before that, nothing identifies you, and nothing leaves your browser.
1. Terminology
A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to store and to send back with every subsequent request to that website. Local storage is a separate area of the browser that holds values on your device but never transmits them automatically. European law treats both the same way: what matters is that something is written to, or read from, your device, not the technique used to do it.
2. Cookies
Metatopics sets no cookies. No cookie is created for measurement, personalisation, advertising, security, load balancing or any other purpose. Because the platform loads no resource from any other domain, no third party is in a position to set one either.
3. The one item stored on your device

This item is created only when you press the appearance control in the page header. If you never press it, nothing is written to your device at any point, and the platform opens in its default light appearance every time.
The value contains no identifier, no reference number and no personal data. It is not sent to the server, is not readable by any other website, and is not combined with anything else.
4. Why no consent banner appears
Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC, as implemented in the national law of each Member State of the European Economic Area, requires consent before information is stored on a reader's device, but exempts storage that is strictly necessary for a service the reader has explicitly requested. An appearance setting that exists only because the reader deliberately selected it falls squarely within that exemption, which is the established position for interface customisation preferences.
Since nothing outside that exemption is stored, there is no lawful basis to ask you for, and no purpose that a consent banner would serve. The same conclusion follows under Law No. 6698 in Türkiye, because no personal data is processed by the storage of an appearance preference.
5. What is not present
- No advertising cookies, advertising identifiers, remarketing tags or conversion trackers.
- No analytics or audience measurement of any kind, first party or third party.
- No tracking pixels, web beacons, clear images or similar invisible requests.
- No social network buttons, embedded players, hosted fonts, content delivery networks or external scripts.
- No device fingerprinting, and no attempt to recognise a returning reader.
- No session cookie, because the platform has no accounts and holds no session.
6. Removing the preference
Two routes are available, and both take effect immediately:
- Press the appearance control until the platform is back in the light appearance. The stored value returns to the default state.
- Clear site data for this domain in your browser settings, which deletes the item outright.
The only consequence is that the platform opens in the light appearance again on your next visit. Nothing else about the platform depends on it, and every page remains fully readable.

If storage of any other kind were ever introduced, this page would be updated before it took effect and the mechanism, purpose and duration would be described here in the same detail. The date at the top of this page indicates the current version.
